Frustrating Missions

There are some mild spoilers here.

I've hit my second bit of frustration in GTA4, the mission "No. 1" with Brucie. I've tried it 5 times now, and have lost the race every time. I'll either spin out when some other racer bangs into me, or wacked out physics will ruin me and I'll get thrown onto the grass and into a tree. I've also tried shooting up the other racers, but that's not allowed and they'll end the race.

Sigh.

Try to keep it slow in the beginning. Most of your rivals will hit traffic or spin out.

Later there is a long straight which is perfect for getting to first place.

I also had to try multiple times. On my first try I even wanted to look back and jumped out of the car instead :)
