hold up, where's my gamer's pouch?
It has gone to that digital trash bin in the interwebs. The fat lady sang. It's gone.
why change things?
GP was just too individual based. Sure, you could come in and enter your game collection, but that was about it. It stuck around too long with little to no updates. People didn't have any reason to keep coming back. Now, we've shifted focus from individual to community.
sounds good, what did you add?
Lots of stuff really. The core collection system is still intact with some additions like user written reviews and the ability to export your stuff. You can now create and join user groups, have your own gaming blog to talk about whatever you'd like, create a list of friends and rivals, and even compete in user created tournaments.
can anyone become my friend?
If someone wants to add you as a friend, you're going to have to confirm it. Friends can see any of your profile fields that you marked "friends" and their recent activity on sochl will appear on your dashboard. Once you confirm that they are your friend, they will also be added to your friends list.
how do rivals work?
If you've met someone gaming online or even on the website that you constantly butt heads with or try to one up, you can mark them as your rival. They don't need to confirm that you can add them, but all your latest Sochl activity will forcibly appear on their dashboard.
what are user groups used for?
You can create a user group for your gaming clan or for a general interest group. Each group has settings that the administrator can set making it public or private and age restricted. Groups all get their own message board as well for communication to members.
how can I get badges?
Badges are handed out after a secret meeting held in the basement of an unknown building. If you've earned them, they'll just appear in your profile. They are displayed in your profile and also as a number next to your name around the community.
How do the "Highest Ranked Games" work?
It's foolish to just use an average to display which games people love the most, simply because if a single person ranks some obscure game that no one else has played a 10, they'll be immediately on the top of the list. What we do, is give more weight to games with more ratings.
How can I increase my score?
Just being an active member of the community will increase your score. Keep your game collection up to date, create active user groups, write reviews, rate games... Just use the site and your score will climb and climb. Can you make it to number 1?
I love this place, can I give you some money?
Of course you can, we like donations. You may even get a nifty badge when we confirm it... maybe. Its easiest to use Paypal and just send cash payments to modeps@gmail.com.
There are a few icons around the site that are neat, where can I get them?
We've grabbed the great icon pack from famfamfam.com and put some of their icons to use.
